Donors to United Way’s COVID-19 Response Fund to be Awarded Complimentary Tickets to Aviators Games this Summer

The Lafayette Aviators baseball team is proud to announce a partnership with United Way of Greater Lafayette, The Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette and Greater Lafayette Commerce to support the Tippecanoe County COVID-19 Response Fund. The Aviators are offering a complimentary 2020 season pass good for all Aviators home games at Purdue’s Alexander Field for donors to the Tippecanoe County COVID-19 Response Fund.

The Tippecanoe County COVID-19 Response Fund was created to bring relief to the area’s most vulnerable individuals and families as well as funded partner agencies as the community begins to experience the short-term and long-term impacts of the coronavirus outbreak. The goal of the fund is to rapidly deploy resources to local organizations that are offering emergency relief to families and individuals in need and to non-profits who are looking for innovative means to continue to provide support networks for those who need it most.

Ray Carolin, the Lafayette Aviators general manager said, “When we first learned of the creation of the Tippecanoe County COVID-19 Response Fund, and their effort to make a positive difference in the lives of those who may have the most difficult time recovering from financial setbacks such as seniors, children and low-income families, we knew that as a community based team we had an obligation to assist with raising the necessary funds to support their collective efforts.”

After learning about the creation of the Tippecanoe County COVID-19 Fund in the newspaper Carolin reached out to Michael Budd, CEO at United Way of Greater Lafayette, and David Lasater, President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette and suggested the baseball team would like to donate tickets to the COVID-19 Response Fund which would assist them in their efforts.”

For Immediate Release Contact: Ray Carolin rayc@lafayettebaseball.com Office: (765) 464-6810 For a minimum $25 donation made directly to the Tippecanoe County COVID-19 Response Fund, the Aviators will donate (2) complimentary tickets redeemable for any game during the 2020 season. For a minimum of a $150 donation, the donor will receive a season pass which is good for all scheduled 2020 Aviator home games scheduled for Purdue’s Alexander Field.

United Way partners with more than 20 resource services in the County. Right now, the funds are expected to go toward people’s immediate needs like bills and food. United Way CEO Michael Budd said the use of money will expand depending on needs. The goal is to provide extra support for people during and after the pandemic.

With the community’s support, United Way and their partners plan to provide aid to those who may have the most difficult time recovering from financial setbacks such as seniors, children and low-income families. The fund will be used for a multitude of efforts to help with recovery.

“We greatly appreciate this new partnership with the Lafayette Aviators. We continue to receive contributions from individuals and corporations from across the community as we work to support emergency relief efforts and plan for emerging needs as the COVID-19 situation unfolds,” said Budd.
